seoul garden @ causewaypoint got revamped. and its new look is awesome, now that it has Breeks too. a class of its own, its such a contrast to the rest of the restaurants around it. unfortunately, the cooking table + grill is not as spacious as before. why ?



despite this con, i enjoyed the food definitely.

and i find it very cute, dont u? of late, i have this CRAZE for white shoes, now that i have 2 pairs.

there is a story behind this pair. the moment my eyes caught them, i wanted to buy BUTTT becos of my long feet, i needed the largest ever they have and so this guy came for assistance. okay, typically when one of the pair is placed at the top of stacked boxes, its accompanying sizes usually are along those stacked boxes. sooo, this fella, not knowing whats the model and code, i supposed, searched THE OTHER stacked boxes instead of below the pair. andddd he searched and looked and concluded that they do not have it anymore. me being me, wasnt that SATISFIED cos seriously i wanted this pair. and so, there i was SQUATTING and SEARCHING for my size, right BELOW the pair where the stacked boxes were. andddd voila, i saw THE size with the code WHITE. the reason why he didnt continue with the same stacked boxes becos the salesgal CARELESSLY placed 2 initial boxes with the code RED! thanks to my never-give-up that i brought it home now. andddd without further due, i somehow told him off in a very nice manner about him being sleepy/tired or watever had caused the fatigue (or blur or donno whats happening). hes a nice fella anyway, cos he did helped me out to search for my sizes initially. despite this, eventually i was a happy customer :)

how did i manage to do it years back ? hunch? instinct? plain guts?
and it saw the beginning of something tat ended in an unexpected way or perhaps, it was just a waiting game. just waiting to break loose.
guts to face my parents. guts to face my siblings. guts to carry on. how did i do it ?

now, i am faced with another gut of which i cant put up at all. most probably, it might not be a success and i will end up embarassing myself. we dont know what other brains are thinking about. we dont know what is being expected. the only thing we can know is through body language but that depends on one's circumstance.

it was the time when i had nothing better to do (more like tengah membesar huhu). ok don laugh ok.

i was THE fanatic fan of SENARIO. seriously. i remember it was in 2000. and i even went down to Shah Alam Plaza Central to watch their sitcom recording with the rest of THE fanatics who were mostly gals of course including my cousin and aunt. wahahaha. giler kan. and my favorite was Wahid. went to their concerts even in JB. met up close and personal with them, sent them off frm airport and the best, wherever we went, they still remember us. huhu. it all started when aunt asked me along to their concert here way back. they were a hit here man. before the concert, all ads on their concert were splashed all over any forms of media. and i was commenting, what is so good about this Senario. andddddd until i wanted to find out for myself, i went to their concert and that was the beginning of my madness/gilerness/fanaticness of Senario. Apek and Yassin were the ultimate ones and Wahid was the cute and goodlooking. anddddd, like a typical ending, my fanatism towards them ceased when Wahid got married(wahahhahahha, no interest lah) anddddd apek and yassin left the group but still i continued my friendship with the fanatic fans whom i was so closed to.

things dont turn out quite well. u know, when u have lots of friends. unhappiness, bitching, gossipping. i left. went for my studies and the rest did their own stuff. all walked away but some turned out to be best friends which is great. and i dont watch the sitcom anymore. no more of their vcds i have watched. their concert vcds all are stored in the cabinet collecting more dust :)

traces were left (wonder the stupidity is up to what level now), lens up everywhere.
taking things for granted. one has been working hard and me being the one who saw all the traces, am just waiting for more sins to be accumulated.

have you eaten tat plate of rice + chicken + vege + egg + watever stuff you have filled the plate with till you cant see your rice, CLEANNNN ?

you didnt finish your food, why? bcos you want to have a sleek, nice figure (then y the heck you take so much food in the first place) ?

think of the those kids who cant even savour more than 1 small bowl rice and even worst, to dig out from the trash bins or even to rush and run after food packages thrown down from the mercy relief groups. have you seen those scenes LIVE before? i have yet to see, and i believe it will be quite a heartening one.

spend a few minutes on this World Hunger Relief Week and think of them on ur next breakfast/lunch/dinner/supper time :)

i was the server, i was the dishwasher on the first day of Syawal. very tired butttt im okayyyy with that. thats the time to show how doubly FILIAL i am! wahahahhahaha! that is, besides my NORMAL day MAID hours!

is it me only?

being a self-pledged fulltime MAID, i get agitated when things are placed messily or dishes are as tall as Petronas Twin Towers or even the slightest bit of food on the floor. all thanks to the three years AWAY from home. i had to sweep the floor + mop, wash own dishes, wash and hang and collect and fold own clothes, keep the MASS toilet cleannnnnn, keep the toilet bowl cleannnnn. in one word, to be HYGIENIC + ORGANISED. all this together in addition to the main point being there, to study. sometimes, i spent more time cleaning than even studying, whattt was i doing man.*smack forehead as loud as poss*
andd now, i dread cleaning my own room. sob sob. dust is as thick as okayyyy, its beyond description. LUCKILYYYY, i got my mum to remove the already million-years old blinds which i cant remember when was the last time i even clean it(or maybe i didnt at all!) and im gonna get new curtains for my rooommmmmm. huhuehehehehe. will put up the pic soon annnddd now im off to continue Phase 2. ohhh myyy! :(

finger fingering.

my plan years ago, with a guitar, was not a success.
i have always adored gals who can strum it, not only that but sing along too.
i guess i am not fated to strum one buttttttt i plan to take up keyboard(not the PC one ok) lessons. the latest instrument i think is the electone. that stuff are very expensive thou butttt keyboard is just nice for beginners. my bro used to own one long time ago and i donno where it is now. most prob have disappeared into thin air.

acquiring such a skill is just something entertaining with my already-bored life hehe. at least i can play tunes and entertain the kids! hehe. orrrrr play happy berfday tune all year round! hehe.

justtt in case, someone notices this and make a big fuss that i did not cite where i got it from :). talking abt citations and references, during uni i didnt actually write essays, reports that much or rather its actually close to none.

3.dry, confusing stuff like formal methods, operating systems bla bla bla

and sooo, when final year project was coming to an end, i was supposed to write a final project report. andddddd guess wat! i was asked to REDO the whole report(i was already happily submitting it right after my presentation!), esp the bibliography format. dammit. what to do. just did it accompanied with verbal abuses and got it done, over and poofed! even thou its 1 mark close to High D, butttt i still like you, Mr ****! hehe.

I GOT SLAMDUNKED AND LOST TO HIM. how shameful is that!

i am talking about my darling nephew who spent nothing but most of his time on Xbox games. tats not about it, he got so agitated when i won for the first 2 rounds and for the next 10 rounds he won. dammit. haha. HOPEFULLY he gets into a polytechnic where there is that wat do call u tat course, the one with game software development and stuff? yeaaa, tat one....which recently this young malay poly guy got a number of awards and a place in a US uni where the experts in gaming were produced. cool heh. okayyyy...talking abt education, i still remember this very classic, unforgettable conversation i had with my mum many years ago. i think i was about to take my O Levels back then.

Mum : Jiji, belajar pandai pandai, nanti masok VI(now known as ITE) eh!

wahahahhaha..that is so unforgettable. and my job is to pass that line down to the smaller ones! hehe. okayyy, what she meant was actually NIE and not VI cos my sister was from there, so its like to follow into her footsteps! (me, teacher?!)

the last time, i blogged abt this particular bazaar stall selling the POWER nasi lemak Boon Lay and yay! i managed to get hold 4 packets for my family!! and when i was about to order, the uncle showed all of his 10 fingers, buying 10 packets? Melampauuu seh! hehe. tuu kemuntah darah!

PS: for those who are in favor of all-sweet dishes, this nasi lemak dishes do provide that taste. u knw, like the sambal is abit sweet, the serunding and watever dishes that i bought. :) im not the sweet-food lover, im more to the hot spicy one!

10 DAYS TO HARI RAYA!

okayy, y all this excitement? becauseeeee after 3 years not being able to be in singapore for ramadhan + hari raya entirely!!

where's my kampung?

seriously, i really envy people in malaysia who has been living in the city to earn a living ANDDDD they have their kampung to go back to during hari raya!! isnt that great, celebrating our festival in kampung-spirited environment? with the chickens, goats, COW-DUNGS !! hehe..and fireworks + hari raya songs + hari raya FOOODDDD and most importantly the Takbir Raya during eve night of Hari Raya. i have not had any chance(or will never even get) to be in tat scene UNLESS i get hitched to someone who does. HAHA. anywayyyyy, there are things in life where we cant get everything we want. im just happy being at where i am now :)

buttt one thing that i cant imagine is, if i were to be working in another country and having to spend ramadhan and hari raya there. thou we do it for our own good and for our best future butttt like wat i said earlier on, we cant get everything and anything:)

Lydia Gan, who is the principal director of Wow-Her.Com, an online value creation magazine that provides dating tips and relationship advice for singles in Singapore, gives her reasons for what she feels is a lack of oomph in Singapore's dating scene.

She lists 10 of them here.


1. Lack of Confidence
Have you ever woken up early in the morning, looked at yourself in the mirror and wonder: "Who will ever love me?"

Low self-esteem and fear of rejection can cause such episodes to cripple anyone's love life! As long as such thoughts are foremost in the mind, singles will be unable to take the all-important step to initiate a date or accept one.


2. Clueless In Love
Gone out with a date who looks like he just woke up, has npt brushed his teeth, does not open the door for you and picks his nose at the table? You're probably not alone.

Lack of grooming and communication skills, social and dating etiquette can spell disaster for any potential social opportunities. If you want to network, impress someone on a date or connect with anyone in a relationship, better pick up a copy of Grooming and Etiquette for Dummies.


3. Denying the Coming of Age
Mummy's boy and Daddy's princess. These big kids can't admit that they are adults and of marriageable age. They are comfortable in their roles as mummy's pets and daddy's little girls. Either too spoilt or too sheltered to take the next big step, the day they actually decide to settle down would be the day you strike lottery.

4. Wa Bo-Chap! a.k.a I Can't Be Bothered

Some singles think it is cool to 'act cool' about their singlehood. When their motto is "Singles have more fun!", there really isn't any impetus to get out of this comfort zone. And even if they do want to get attached, they expect their other half to accept them as they are, warts and all. Don't expect these singles to change for the better or settle for compromises.


5. Consistently "Not Ready for a Relationship"
This is the most commonly heard 'default' reason for 'un-dating' singles. They are simply "Not Ready for a Relationship", and are extremely reluctant to do anything constructive to get themselves ready. But as long as you are not ready to prepare yourself for a relationship, you will never find yourself in one.


6. Kia Pai-Seh, or Afraid of being Embarrassed
Afraid of taking the first step, kia paiseh is known as the fear of 'losing face'. Sufferers of such a syndrome will not be caught dead asking someone out for a date or attending any singles events to try and know more people, even self-improvement courses such as dating etiquette.

These activities are akin to announcing to the whole world that they are desperate to get out of singledom. Grow up! There is nothing wrong with wanting to get hitched. Human beings are born to procreate. Be proactive about your dating lives! Truth is, it is much more practical to attend social events and get to know more single friends then to sit around and wait for a life-partner to drop onto your lap!


7. The Fear of Commitment
This phobia is the inability or unwillingness to share their life with someone else or resolve their past hurts. While it can be a valid and emotionally debilitating phobia, a lot depends on whether the single in question recognises the phobia for what it is. Once they do face up to it, there are life coaches, counsellors, self-help books, forums and informative websites that singles can turn to for help. The trick, as always, is to first recognise that you do have that problem.


8. No Money to Date
The financially insecure among us will lament: "No money to buy expensive dinners, how to date?" or "No money to doll up, how to impress anyone on a date?" Well, the good news is dating is about having fun. There are many ways to have fun without spending a lot of money. Sometimes, fun is all about looking into each other's eyes, sharing a laugh or a moment together.


9. Too Busy
All drained after a hard day's work and too caught up with other commitments to find time for romance? Find the well-spring of strength and stamina that is inside everyone. Busy-ness not just a Singaporean affliction. The youth in Hong Kong work as hard as Singaporeans, and their lifestyles are as stressful as ours. But they adopt a work hard, play harder mentality which makes them such a vibrant population. Their singles still make the time and effort to date. The question is: How much is companionship worth to you?


10. Haven't met someone suitable yet
There are 600,000 singles out there in Singapore. If I had a dollar for each single out there, I would be very rich. I am sure you can find one among the 600,000 whom you can relate well with. But are you making the effort to meet them?


Given the above 10 reasons why singles are not dating, I would like to salute everyone who is attached or married for their courage to change, to give love and to receive love, especially those who have attended singles events and coaching sessions. I feel very proud that you have the wisdom to be open and are proactive enough to try and enriching your lives. These are very attractive qualities. Keep it up!

finally i had the chance to sit down and edit my graduation convo vid. and indeed, it shall bring alot of memories down the lane. i giggled as i watched the vid and i was seriously fortunate that my bro was around to capture the whole ceremony from the start till end :)

candid shots are the best. seeing my own self with friends, how i behaved with/around them captured on vid, its like...i laughed at my ownself repeating the scenes and i wonder wat was funny that we unashamedly was laughing abt! okayyy, that showed how happy i was around them :) there might or might not be a chance that i further my studies in future which depends ALOTTT on my will heh. and i wish that i will meet similar friends who bring joy and happiness along the way im going :)

we are into 15th/16th ramadhan now and i have been to bazaar next to causewaypoint quiteee frequent not that there are pple to wash-eyes on heh huhu butttt the foood there and the customers never fail to cease esp the ones with the longest queues evaaa! a few i have spotted were the self-acclaimed best briyaniiiiss, the self-acclaimed best BOON LAY nasi lemak Power, ohh and there is the Geylang Serai Chendol, andddddddddd the ever BURGER RAMLY stall. okayyyy, tat seriously reminded me of ABANG BURGER back in sunway huahuaahhaa. i wonder how hes doing! anyway, this guy will crack God-knows-number-of-eggs onto the cooking stove and place like wat, 20 patties! and top it over with cheese each! its a no wonder that the queue has always been long.sanggup woh! okayyy, blame our local fastfood outlets for failing to keep up to Burger Ramly's touch! besides these competitors, the rest are normal food like the sweet delicacies, iced beverages, otak2 and others which welll, seemed not to attract much of attention thou. :) ohhh, and i have never been to geylang and frankly, geylang on weekend is a taboo for me! SERIOUSLY.

after 3 years in malaysia, went thru fasting all those years there, today is the 1st day of ramadhan back in homeland!!!!!

ok, confession here. because today is the first day of fasting, yesterday i stuffed myself with the following (LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW!)

1) McSpicy meal WITH Mcwings!
2) 2 scoops OF GELARE icecream served in waffle basket with WHIPPED CREAM!
3) Banquet's big bowl of LAKSA + a big bowl of fishball soup!

what does it take to impress someone? in particular, ehem.. a guy ?!!! do we have to be chatty? do we have to show concern? do we have to .... hmmm ? so wat do we have to do? i mean if a gal is too frenly with the guy, chances are it may scare the guy off rite! esp when it comes to someone who is not on the same level in terms of education-wise. its to my understanding that i realised that the guy stammered in few of our conversations. but then again, the difference between qualifications of these two does make some significance, i mean what if in the future, something realllyy bad crops up and issue of this sort pop up. bound to be, isnt it?

hey cousin, easy life for u heh! :) auto car is bloody easy. i had my prac subject on that today. err, reminded me of DAYTONA!

i would like to own a car one day once im financially stable. perhaps a manual one :) in 2 yrs time maybe BUTTT i hv to cater to my family as well. u know, small cars cant exactly fit ALOT OF PPLE esp accomodating the plus-sizes! hehe. but wat heh, havent get license already dreaming of owning a car. but no harm done right! its just a plan, a dream. dream does come true if you want it real BAD hehe.

i would urge u pple to go try Absolute Thai anywhere in Malaysia. the one i went recently was at The Curve, Damansara. they serve awesome thai food esp the tomyam soup! bloody spicy yet its awesome ! seriously. :)

officially a graduate.

it was my day. the day where 3 years of "sufferings", "loneliness"(initial year), sacrifices of alot of things of which i have to miss back home then. looking at the brighter side, there were alot of happy moments with the 3 musketeers, Farah, Ezie and Wen!

we can communicate, talk crap, cocok, blast F words and B*** and other B words(Huhu!)without any boundaries! haha. and at the end of the day, we know we didnt mean anything personal at all and all broke into giggly giggles and laughter. in another words, we are just happy people. its just something to go along with that made my days much colorful back then :)

i owe my parents esp for their blessings + kah-chings$$$ that led me to the possesion of the cert i have now. i am grateful to be in the circle of 3 and made my parents proud again :) i am not smart. its all pure hardwork, with additional determination and a push of motivation. 3 years is a long period of time for myself but not to those who were not in my shoes cos to them, time flies very fast.

i enjoyed my convocation. close friends were there and fellow graduates were there.its just a very memorable, excited, proud moment of my life :)

FUH! Excellento! this movie is such a major success after Grease!

damn. i miss my instructors. i miss my driving prac. err only for 2 days not in the driving-prac-primetime and all this missing u missing them! OKAYYYYY.

i dont like school holidays. i mean the primary/seconday ones. bcos the malls and everywhere, practically EVERYWHERE, EVERYCORNER are fully occupied with NOISE and occasional mischief. BUTTTT yesterday, thou there were alot of kids at vivocity, i managed to relax at a corner facing the playcourt and it didnt bother me at all cos i got a very comfortable seat and i am plugged! hehe. wat caught my attention was these PAY-RIDE-HORSES! not the real ones, the funny ones where the kids have to do lots of exercising of their BUTT to move ON them. looked stupid thou. they sud have the ones back in Sunway. the automatic, smooth running ones without injuring any parts of the body. i mean the kids'. :)

initial plan was to go to Sentosa by cable car BUT realising tat it was actually skool holidays(it took me a moment to realise after seeing so many pple everywhere in causewaypoint), i dropped the plan. had Ben&Jerrys where we gathered few months back, remember the COW. hehe. and i had this superb soto ayam at the harbourfront's hawker centre opp the interchange. thou there were alot of malay stalls, i settled for one that displayed the most appetising shredded chicken, potato balls! i had fun but a tiring one cos it was painstakingly hot :)

it will be a long break for me after my last driving prac which will be at the end of this week. actually, i want to lessen the tiring time to be spent for driving during fasting month WHICH is just around the corner! to be exact, it starts on 13.9.07. oh well, i dont want to end up with "BOMBASTIC" words during my fasting and so do the malay instructors heh thou i quite ADMIRE their patience and how chatty and very friendly they are so far.

things are not gg that fine for me now that i am still waiting for job offers. oh heaven's sake! i just have nothing much to say about this. actually, i also dont want to think about it, but i cant. i have to think abt it, have to worry abt it. but there are limits right! sometimes, it just pierced into my brain cells that i have occasion head-aches! and plus i spent too much of my time learning stuff. and when i m too tired, i rest and sleep and the worries just went away temporarily. when i wake up, i do the normal, routine stuff and here i am back infront of the comp, checking emails, checking job portals, apply here apply there. cousin told me to be patient, and yes i am still going strong and veryyyyyy patient now :) i need distractions. i need changes. i need something to occupy myself with. hmmmm...lemme see. what can i do?

when i was with someone in the past, i kept asking him when we were in the car. i noticed luxurious cars passed us. questions about why these or that people are living in luxury. why my God let our own people suffer in such great despair and poverty ? why some people are rewarded so handsomely with luxury and wealth? i got the answer yesterday from an ustaz that not to blame God for the unfairness. God gives all they asked for in this world and it is just for loan. Prayers if not answered in this world where money, wealth and status are the main concerns BUT will be answered in the after-world will be the most, best-est gifts of all. Insya'allah.

i believe that success comes with hardwork, determination and the HEART. the heart has to tell you that you want it really bad. when there is a will, there's definitely a way. 1000 excuses can be made up if the heart doesn't want it at all. to keep going, i know it's just so tiring. to maintain, it's even worst. but hey, before u even know it, you are actually doing it and what you have feared the last time, actually u are overcoming it. and you just tell yourself that this is what i feared to do the last time. its just miracuously happening. now. this moment. i am going through it. why didn't i overcome it the last time? it just takes the HEART, the DETERMINATION, whether i want to MAKE IT HAPPEN. this was wat someone told me straight into my face. MAKE IT HAPPEN. :)

going through life, meeting strangers and hearing these words of encouragement is rare. things happen for a reason. i go there and here and everywhere else at this point of time, at this hour. for wat? why? there are reasons. words dont just fall from the sky. it needs to be communicated through humans. a simple gesture or infact a smile, words of encouragement will sure make you perked up, confident and overcome FEAR. and when u overcome it, u are just proud of yourself.

im in stage 2 now and i got the not-the-usual-car-model today. and the pedals were abit not aligned as compared to City. i had no choice but to continue with the session. the instructor must be wondering how the hell i managed to get over stage 1 BUT i got cleared 2 subjects thou. so, its not bad after all. and i got HORNED TWICE by impatient morons who are F****** blind. wat! cant they see the F****** school labels and the F****** L plate. F****** morons.

ok enuff, i am satisfied.

we had superb late lunch at Al-Ameen Bukit Batok. i tell u, i loveeeeeee the food there. it seems they are much more better than the one in Woodlands. and after that, we headed down to cousin's PRE-MARRIAGE appointment. he he he. got the chance to wash eyes on this bridal male model! hekhek. thou an eye-candy BUT it lasted like 2 mins and off we went! discuss here and there, confirm here and there, pay here and there, settled and i went for my haircut. my hair grow quite fast and also, it is time to BUANG ALL THE SUEH! HAHA. today was fun! i like today. and tomoro is doom's day! will update soon :)

today is the day, that He wanted me to know that he is now officially + happily married. i was shocked when i saw him. i detoured abit but i failed. he saw me and i expected him not to acknowledge my presence. and i was introduced to his wife and he talked to my father and i was too shocked tat i didnt actually shake hands with his MRS! not tat i didnt want to BUT becos first i was SHOCKED + i was holding rubbish actually to be thrown out. i tell u, those few minutes were like frozen and the aftermath? still in disbelief. HOWEVER, life still goes on! i was at Adam Rd for FOODIE. :) im okayyy..im okayyy. :)

nothing much to update. i have not been feeling well lately becos i STUFFED myself to almost beyond acceptable level. fuh.

only just for a first meeting, we chatted and it just knocked some sense into myself. i donno whether its meant to be tat way that im there, and that person is there too err like its destined. its like ok Aznorzeeha, this time this day, u r supposed to meet this person there and wat time and LISTEN! to watever advice which has to be disseminated :) and hopefully THEY STAY IN MY HEAD FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE! actually, right now as in at this moment, tat phrase is still lingering arnd my head!

i m pleased to hear praises or how proud pple are to know that their own community are doing well in education now. determination/motivation to go up to a higher level is not easy to come by, wats more to actually GO THROUGH it in getting that piece of cert! PLUS sufficient financial aids to accommodate is another factor. not everyone has the opportunity to have that luxury and if they do want, their only hope is in their offspring! the determination to finance and equip them with good education, setting goals and ensuring they have good life in future, looking at the fact that standard of living here is considerably high. that is the vision my community should/must have for the next generation. soaring numbers, succeed and reaping their fruits of labour, isnt that what we should be proud of ?

second instructor was much more friendlier and approachable + chatty SO its fun to chat with err while IM DRIVING! huhuu. DRIVING WAS FUN!!! hahah. i have adapted + blessed my FOOT to the pedals and we turned into bends for errr...70 mins!! haha. and bloody hell, i tot the prac was at 8.40PM. actually it was AN HOUR later!! ugh. actually driving at nite is much err relaxed cos everyone seemed to drive VERY very very SLOW! hehe. esp the turning-in-bends learners LIKE ME! i have not had any DAY prac yet thou. had this awesome seafood feast @ Penu-Umbai (Melaka) over the weekend!
FRESH large prawns, crab, sotong, clams, mussels, variety of fishes(stingray is my favorite) + pudding + FRESH coconut drink and watever u can see above for RM 250! methods of cooking(grilled/fried/gravy sambal etc) are customised to own preferences! well known for their very simple(rice + sambal only!) BUT very delicious "nasi lemak" in small packets. once popped in, u will never stop!

for the first time, i moved/drove a REAL car!!!(not daytona, not GT :P) biting point wasnt easy for me. have to practise more. annddddd instructor asked me whether i PLAYED DAYTONA when i handled the steering wheel. i looked/stared at him and time froze for 2 secs! woohooooo! ok i rest my case! haha. DONT ROLL YOUR EYES OK!

next prac will be turning and more of biting point/move off/reverse practices! and i have to pass BTT for the first time so tat he can bring me out to public. too fast heh. but watever it is, im glad that i moved the car and the first time is over! hehe. looking forward to future pracs!

I know people who work 12 hours a day, six days a week, or more. Some people do so because of a work emergency where the long hours are only temporary.

Other people I know have put in these hours for years!!! I don't know if they are working all these hours, but I do know they are in the office this long. Others put in long office hours because they are addicted to the workplace.

Whatever the reason for putting in overtime, working long hours over the long term is harmful to the person and to the organization. There are things managers can do to change this for everyone's benefit. Being in the office long hours, over long periods of time, makes way for potential errors.

My colleagues who are in the office long hours frequently make mistakes caused by fatigue.

Correcting these mistakes requires their time as well as the time and energy of others. I have seen people work Tuesday through Friday to correct mistakes made after 5 PM on Monday.

Another problem is that people who are in the office long hours are NOT pleasant company.

They often complain about other people (who aren't working as hard); they are irritable, or cranky, or even angry. Other people avoid them. Such behaviour poses problems, where work goes much better when people work together instead of avoiding one another.

As Managers, there are things we can do to help people leave the office.

First and foremost is to set the example and go home ourselves. I work with a manager who chides people for working long hours. His words quickly lose their meaning when he sends these chiding group e-mails with a time-stamp of 2 AM, Sunday.

Second is to encourage people to put some BALANCE in their lives. For instance, here is a guideline I find helpful:

1) Wake up, eat a good breakfast, and go to work.

2) Work hard and smart for eight or nine hours.

3) Go home.

4) Read the books/comics, watch a funny movie, dig in the dirt, play with (your) kids, etc.

5) Eat well and sleep well.

This is called recreating. Doing steps 1, 3, 4, and 5 enable step 2. Working regular hours and recreating daily are simple concepts. They are hard for some of us because that requires 'personal change'. They are possible since we all have the power to choose to do them.

In considering the issue of overtime, I am reminded of my oldest son.

When he was a toddler, if people were visiting the apartment, he would not fall asleep no matter how long the visit, and no matter what time of day it was.

He would fight off sleep until the visitors left. It was as if he was afraid that he would miss something. Once our visitors' left, he would go to sleep.

By this time, however, he was over tired and would scream through half the night with nightmares. He, my wife, and I, all paid the price for his fear of missing out.

Perhaps some people put in such long hours because they don't want to miss anything when they leave the office. The trouble with this is that events will NEVER stop happening.

That is life !! Things happen 24 hours a day.

Allowing for little rest is not ultimately practical. So, take a nap.

Things will happen while you're asleep, but you will have the energy to catch up when you wake. Hence "LOVE YOUR JOB BUT NEVER FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR COMPANY"

im just surprised at what i encountered earlier in the day. i was in NTUC supermarket. wanted to buy a Magnolia orange juice of a litre and i checked that its 1.73. a tag somehow caught my eyes which it states that the same 1 litre of 2 cost 3.25, amusingly to celebrate errr how many years heh of independence ..... 40 heh? ok, tats not the point. the thing im trying to say is tat .... simple calculations :

buy 2 packets @ 3.25

simple calculation : 1.73 * 2 = 3.46

simple calculation :3.46 - 3.25 = 0.21

is tat worth the cents saved or not ?

life has never been the same since i came back :) nothing beats being back in homeland!!

taking the familiar feeder buses, paying stuff in SGD and sometimes looking at the 1901 hotdog's price of 2.80 just knocked myself in the head tat how come so cheap!!! hehe. geez, im back home and im back and yesh, being back in homeland and yeahhh... :) ok i dont mean to sound so PATRIOTIC or letting out my "i love singapore" feelings!! haha just becos National Day is just around the corner. but 3 years being out of this country and living on my own on my FaMa's scholarship (hehe :P), its an experience tat sometimes i feel tat when im back here, i feel just the same, doing stuff independently of which i dont know whether its a good thing or not looking at the fact that i am with my family now and i really donno wat other responsibilites i have to put on my back besides errr....FINDING JOB! ok, tats so not a topic to talk about. patience and wait and watever it takes to get an interview, fresh grads just have to face it. gotta face the reality thou.

ooo ooo. national day loonggg holiday is another getaway again !! soon, and where else but MELAKA. all around and around and it comes back to the same old state! ahha. my parents hail from melaka, so wat can i expect? unless they originate from places far away like Italy, Spain ahhaa and err..ok stop, i wont be even blogging abt my life here ! cousin was like asking me, if i were to play a music instrument, what would i choose? i would choose..ok....this word i just learnt..dont laugh! PERCUSSION! haaha...like "tabla", DRUMS. hehe. im a rhythmic + good sense of coordination person yo, so i might consider enrolling in a course in tat pretty soon! :)

BTL lessons @ BBDC were fun with cousin esp that we can just laugh hysterically at those jokes by the instructors. seriously jokers! how i just wish lessons in MONASH were that interesting of which an exception for Dr Lim speaking of which gave me very good and unexpected grade for software engineering hehe :) :) all smiles here!

so looking forward for practices later. and goodness gracious practically there are no practical lessons for august! and realising that there are also ADULTS who are in the same shoes as us whom at a later stage of life taking our driving lessons! phew, i tot we were the only ones hehe. at least, we know we are not the isolated humans. hey, even makciks also learn driving, but auto trans :) but seriously, i m amazed at their sheer determination of wanting to own that precious license to KILL if we as drivers DONT drive CAREFULLY, correct?

watching accidents (crashing/flying/chaining ones..) captured from CCTV along highways/major roads really chilled my spines man! i was like errr..gasped with my mouth wide opened like 2 apples can fit in.

Cars and Motors are KILLING MACHINES. it all lies within the attitude of the drivers. Wah, steady, ok or not? :)

i have not watched the finals on youtube, hopefully kind souls do post them up. thou he does not sing the way anuar zain sings(which was great having his own singing style), but i find it disturbing that i can see abit of anuar zain's signature movements here and there like when he smiles/grins widely haha, and when he pulled his note with THAT face. so Diana, what do u think ? :)

great feast.

three days were filled with nothing but food. seriously! we kept eating and eating non-stop! not including the BBQ food, whateva were edible, we munched! haha. we concluded that its either being so near to the sea or that the wind that made us so hungry. haha. so it either made us HUNGRY or SLEEPY. make sense or not? the only PHYSICAL activity we played was Treasure Hunt. bloody fun man. who else organised, see the leg lah. hehe. seeing pple running around just tickled me and made me err perspire too. overall it was fun especially having pple around who know how to BBQ without burning the whole feast hehe and the BBQ chef did a good job too.(hint hint: me lah! :)). bcos we had to checkout quite early, we went to sembawang park to finish off ALL the uncooked food left which were quite of abundance and voila, we had a hefty brunch there! yesh lah. this is one of the best BBQs i had ever. nothing beats family gathering!

harry porter 5 doesnt display much of action-packed thrills. i despise the new fella, err what was her name. serves her right being dragged away by the fauns(ezie, they are fauns :P). the requirement room + watever they were doing inside there was cool and the so-called "first kiss" wasnt tat great at all hehe. so wat was the hype about actually ? and if my lil nephew already was so fidgeting waiting for the more action-packed thrills, err what more can i say abt myself ?! :) others might find it otherwise thou.

next phase.

gladly to annnounce that finally i am officially done\finished\"enuff is enuff" (hehe) with Monash (err, anything categorised as "the rest" BUT "study" was FUN! saw it rite!) and going on to the next phase and hopefully, it turns out good (err, not marriage heh :P), thou i have yet to find that tiny miny source of light at the end of the tunnel BUT im sure it will go well :)

i came across a ruffedge member at sunway pyramid, i think i have mentioned this in my previous post. Jay jay (alamak, is that how its spelled???) with family at my usual makan hangout and THE HOT ONE recently, Ashraff Sinclair(GOl & Gincu) at Cineleisure Damansara, all thanks to my GLASSES!! that i can see like from 10 km away!! haha. ok im kidding. and my ass got shoved between ezila farhana due to her ultimate excitement and the holding rail of the escalator. all because of one dude! haha. hilarious!

other than that, its being at the wrong place at the wrong time besides the point that i dont usually put on my glasses and who knows that there were others that i happily shoved and bumped and passed haha.

next box office - Die Hard 4.0. so looking forward to this ultimate "Hero Tua"! (old Hero). oh btw, Heroes..it took me a while to realise that its awesome. I love ISACC!!!
